Global Food Properties is elated to announce the closing sale of a 107,000 SF largely equipped bakery plant in Taylor County, City of Perry, in Northwest Florida. The facility is owned by Snyder’s Lance, manufacturing potato chips and other salty snacks. Global Food Properties sold the facility concurrently with Snyder’s decommissioning and exit, minimizing vacancy and carry cost.
The Buyer is a packaging and snacks company based in Istanbul, Turkey. The plant will restart after nominal modifications, producing a variety of extruded snacks and private-label products. Fortunately, many of the former employees remain in greater Perry, with those interested likely able to return to their previous posts. The initial head count will be approximately 40, with growth anticipated as the private-label business expands. Scott Frederick of Taylor County, and City Manager Bob Brown were of keen assistance with local incentive programs, job training, and utility negotiations.
Despite the challenges facing processed carbohydrate manufacturers, resulting in a spate of plant closings, modern and linear facilities in low cost markets remain scarce. The Perry facility had an efficient configuration and use-flow, but much of the equipment that Snyder’s Lance abandoned in place created additional speed to market advantages. The resulting sale occurred quickly, before any hard marketing occurred, to the obvious benefit of all stakeholders.
